« Pomme de Pain », nowadays, is the flagship of the « sandwich café à la française », where, anytime of the day you can enjoy a freshly prepared sandwich, healthy and equilibrated products, eat-in or take-away, in a convivial ambiance and contemporary design.

30 year history.

The first restaurant opened 30 years ago at Rivoli Street. In the beginning it was an independent company, managed by Elior that promoted the brand on highways, air and rail networks. In 2004 the company became independent again.

Nowadays, this new status not only guarantees the quality of the products, but it also guarantees the quality of staff and managers, who are at the heart of Pomme de Pain’s sales.

Pomme de Pain combines traditional French delicious meals by more than 15 million customers per year.

An Expanding network

We are working on achieving our goal to open 10 restaurants in the UAE and expand the network further in field over the next few years.

1980

THE PIONNEERS
OF SANDWICHES
« À LA FRANÇAISE »

In 1980, impressed by the development of the American fast food restaurant chains in France, Laurent Caraux, Bernard Vaillant and Pierre Truchet created and started to develop the first French quick serving concept : « Pomme de Pain »

They proposed to French people to discover « The good taste of sandwich »

In 1980, the first restaurant opened its doors at 76 rue de Rivoli à Paris, in the previous premises of the famous « Hôtel de ville » bakery

1983

OPENING
OF THE FIRST RESTAURANT IN LYON

In 1983, two restaurants were opened; one in Lyon, and the second in « Opéra Garnier » next to the « Opéra de Paris »; they were followed in 1988 by the restaurant of “Champs Elysées”…

1995

1995 THE BRAND JOINS THE FOOD CONCEPT BRANCH OF ELIOR GROUP

In 1995, « Pomme de Pain » joined the food concept branch of the « Elior » group and started to open new units onto the road, air and rail networks. The same year, « Aubépain » joined the group followed in 1996 by “Station Sandwich” and its 15 restaurants. Progressively these restaurant chains disappeared and were replaced by “Pomme de Pain”.

2004

« POMME DE PAIN » STARTS A NEW PHASE IN ITS DEVELOPMENT

In 2004, « Pomme de Pain » launched itself into a new development phase under the impulsion of its new owner,“Finama” Subsidiary of the famous insurance company “Groupama”. In 2012, “Groupama” sold “Pomme de Pain” to one of the biggest industrial baker in France; “Neuhauser”.
